Isi artikelTeachers must make quick, automatic, and conscious decisions in the classroom in order to maintain control and create an optimal environment for learning. The Department of Teaching and Learn- ing at Peabody College of Vanderbilt University developed apmgram that uses technology to help give pmetvice teachers these necessau skilk prior to enter- ing the classroom. The program examinedproblems that student teachers had encountered in theirprac- tice teaching experiences and developed a series of learning experiences using videotapes, computer simulations, and videodiscs. The preservice teachers were enthusiastic about the program, and through observations it was determined that the experiences had developed their se[f-confidence and effectiveness as teachers.
