Isi artikel
Globalization has had a levelling effect on many aspects of corporate activities. It has made corporations look very much alike in certain organizational aspects (managerial styles, technologies, etc.), but has, at the same time, made the difference between global identities and local cultures more silent. This tudy shoecases the role of new media, faxes and emails, in the communication conventions between an Argentiniation subsdiary and its European head office, and the communication conflicts that arise from the globally-adopted identity imposed by the head office and the socially-constructed identity sustained by the subsdiary. The case study's main conclusion is that communication conflicts do not result from language (English) misunderstandings but from the two realities operating in the corporation and the ethnocentric attitudes held by head office.
