Mutual fund is business entity which has a unique characteristic company to other investment media such as insuranc eand pension fund. Investors buy unit trust in mutual fund, then the fund run by professional investment manager to achieve profit. In return, the profit then distributes to investors through buy back the unit trust based on net aset value. Investment manager authorized ot manage the investors' fund has merely reinvested the money on the portfolio securities. It means, the investment done by mutual fund through investment manager just limits on the securities management that means buying and selling papers from other company. The profit margin received by investor is the difference between the value of unit trust when it was invested and the value of unit trust when it is bought back. The question is in the extent to which the responsibility of the mutual fund especially investment manager to the investor if it suffers from potential loss ? What's the investment on the mutual fund prospective or speculative ? How to evaluate the mutual fund performance and the investment manager as well in achieving positive in return ? How is the law infrastructure about the mutual fund in order to give legal protection to the investor ? The answer of these above questions has shown that multi fund is a profitable investment media but speculative. Therefore, beside investment manager who hold repsonsibility of investment of the multi fund, there is a need of fair play from the authorized of capital market. The protection of investor from bing cheated by investment manager should be balanced by the protection of investment manager from the bad faith of investor.
