What does about the insurance industry indonesia in facing with global competition ? Are they preparing to compete to foreign insurance company ? Are they preparing to compete to foreign insurance company ? How far do they prepare to ? These question should be addressed to government as regulator, the insurance company as business entity and indonesia citizen as the market. In the view of insurance businesses there are entry barriers for new entries especially domestic entities in dealung with capitalization as the release of government regulation (PP) number 63 / 1999 required of a hundred billion of capital deposit for establishing a new insurance company and two hundreds of capital deposit for a new reinsurance company. Even the existing companies have no obligation to adjust their capital in accordance to the regulation their fresh cash for capitalization unless they will disappear from the market. Why ? According to the record, there are big ten insurance (life) company in indonesia owned by join venture and on the paper they are leading in the market. Amazingly some believe that they will survive on the existing market since they very well know about characteristics of domestic market of insurance industry, but some others believe that unless they create synergy by merger or acquisition with local partner of foreign investors sooner or later they will insolvent.
