Isi artikel
This study presents students' understanding of newtonian concepts in the form of students' responses to FCI (Force concept inventory) questions. The subjects consits of 194 first year students from three different engineering majors. The average FCI score is 25.3 % after they passed physics course containing the items covered in FCI. The two classes where the subjects are grouped show a similar tendency in selecting the answers (in choices and in percentage) to the questions. The conspicuous misconceptions identified are similar to the findings in a number of previous studies.
