Isi artikel
Eight patients with varying degree of breathy voice quality were studied by means of acoustic inverse filtering. The resulting glottograms showed a continuous but varying flow of air through the glottis during phonation. A rough astimate of the glottal insufficiency was calculated from the minimum flow, and the subglottic pressure and it turned out to correlate fairly well with perceptual ratings of breathiness (r = 0.71). A better correlation was demonstrated between the "minimum/maximum air flow quotient" and the ratings of bretahiness (r = 0.83) The results indicate a quantitative relationship between breathy voice quality and glottal insufficiency.
