Isi artikelGlottal air flow and subglottal air pressure and their relationship to sound pressure level have been investigated for some normal speakers. Glottal air flow during vowel articulation was recorded with the Rothenberg mask and inverse filtered. Simultaneously, the subglottal, air pressure was registered as the oral pressure during a preceding /p/. Seven normal speakers, six females and one male, served as informants. The speech material consisted of the syllable /pa/ uttered with different fundamental frequencies and different voice efforts. Both subglottal air pressure and peak glottal air flow showed a positive correlation with sound pressure level; the relationship as such showed intersubject differences. A constant air leakage was often connected with a weak voice and for at least one speaker a leakage was found in all utterances.
