An Interactive source filter model has been used to generate impulse responses, single formant sounds and vowels. In a discrimination test If it.was!ound that listeners were able to perceive differences between stimuli of the first two types, sImulated with and without vocal-tract loading. However, it was not possible to discriminate between the vowel sounds. Consequences of using an interactive model for the synthesis of connected speech are discussed.
