Isi artikelAn intensive ESP thesis-writing course is described with particular attention to target learning needs. An interactive model of needs analysis involving target level participants and EFL learners is presented. Because the course focused on total discourse (Trimble, 1985) learning needs. the relevant differences between developing text- and total discourse-based courses are discussed. Course design is described and implications for teaching the thesis as well as other forms of total discourse to EFL students are suggested.
