Isi artikelThis paper reports on one aspect of an evaluation of the effectiveness of the oral communication skills component of an English for Science and Technology (EST) program. Speech samples of Chinese scientists studying in an intensive EST program were evaluated by native English-speaking professional peers. While the actual results are primarily of interest to those involved in the program itself, of more general interest -and the focus of this paper -is the methodology involved in this study. Thus, this paper might be of particular interest to those involved in ESP program design, development, and evaluation.
