Isi artikel
The degree to which sensory input interacts with and shapes the precise timing and sequencing of the multiple movements necessary for speech is of particular interest if we wish to utilize speech output patterns as reflections of underlying organization. Recently, there has been a re-evaluation of the long-held concept that the detailed temporal organization of sequenced and rhythmic motor actions is implemented via some sort of central pattern generator or predetermined program. Specifically, recent studies in human handwriting, animal locomotion and human speech suggest that sensory information is essential to normal temporal patterns and may be the critical basis for many of the regularities observed. These observations thus require consideration of the neurobiological motor control processes as part of the linguistic system underlying speechat least in terms of current phonological and phonetic descriptions.
