Reflections on the relationship between Indonesia and Japan from the perspective of socio-cultural basically has its keynote, which is the flow of people. This flow of people is not limited to one direction of flow, that is from Indonesia to Japan. The vice versa is also an important aspect to be considered in observing socio-cultural relationship between the two countries. Based on the above considerations, in this presentation I will limit my topic on this aspect, and will focus my observation on the actual condition of Japanese community in Indonesia, mainly in Jakarta. For this occasion, I will focus my analysis on the contents of "Himawari", which is a monthly bulletin from a club with the same name "Himawari kai" in Jakarta, whose members are Japanese women who are married to Indonesian. Through "Himawari" bulletin, I will try to grasp the diasporic condition where these women are being put into. |
