Isi artikel
This study investigated the generation of interlabial pressure during production of [p], [bJ, and [m] In different positions of a sentence. There were no significant differences in interlabial pressure for these phones when the data were collapsed across speakers and sentence positions. However, analysis of interlabial pressure across positions within the experimental sentences indicated that phones in initial positions generally yielded greater pressures than those in medial and final positions. Further, individual speakers utilized different levels of interlabial pressure during production of these phones. The intrasubject differences in interlabial pressure, as well as the differences across phones, may be related to individual variations in physiologic elements of bilabial closure.
