The study was carried out in ujung pandang, the capital city of south sulawesi province, Three regencies were chosen as the location of sampling survey, according to its economic growth. From each agency we choose a district in which a simple frame of the reproductive couples was made. Through simple random sampling we selected about 60 - 65 couples in each district, In this way we got 185 couples. Multivariate linier regression model was applied to find out any correlation between several sosio economic variables and fertility, Based on the result of statistical analysis, it was found out that five variables, i.e : education, the rate of women participation on economic activities, the age first marriage, infant and shild mortality and the age of mother have strong correlation with fertility. Education the age of first marriage and women participation oneconomic activities have negative correlation, while infant and child mortality and the age of the mother have positive correlation. in another analysis we tried to find out whether any correlation existed between education and the age of the first marriage and correlation between education and the use of contraception. The study disclosed that education has a positive correlation with the age of first marriage, which means that the higher educated woman tend to postpone her first marriage during her school life. Education also has positive correlation with the use of contraseption.....
