Isi artikel
The existence of echoes on telephones has been well known for a long time. When we speak into the microphone of a telephone set, we can almost immediately hear our own voice from the earphone. This phenomenon shows that part of the signal generated by the microphone comes back to the earphone and can be viewed as a type of echo. For the telephone conversation, this type of echo is actually desirable, so the speaker can adjusts the volume of his or her voice. On the other hand, on long distance calls, we can hear a delayed form of our own voice. This type of echo is disturbing. One of the methods for overcoming this problem is the use of adaptive filtering methods to eliminate the echo. In one of the adaptive filtering method,, afinite impulse response (FIR) filter together with the least mean square method, is used, to eliminate this undesirable echo.
