Some public-owned banks have a good position in the Indonesia national banking industry. The performances of public-owned banks seem better than the others. This picture emerges a question: does the rate of public-ownership share on these banks have a strong relationship to their performances? This is the main research question in this article. In the regression analysis, I also included the bank size in order to test the economies of scale theorem, and the nonbank background as a dummy variable to find their impact on the performances of the public-owned banks. I used return on assets, return on equity, and the ratio of operational cost to operational income as dependent variables.
