Isi artikelStainless steel is a kind of metal that contain more than 11% chromium to build its own passive continuous layer (Cr2O3,), and to protect the metal from the environmental interaction. Austenitic stainless steel 304 is the most common stainless steel used for industrial parts. The applied temperature varies from 425 C to 815 C and if it exposures to the temperature for very long period of time will form chrome carbide precipitate, and it is usually called as Sensitisation. This phenomenon will decrease corrosion resistance especially intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.
