The Objectives of this study is to investigate the relation between acute ishemic strokes out of therapeutic window with risk of post acute ishemic stroke dementia and to determine which factors influence the relation between post acute ischemic stroke dementia and stroke out of window. This study is a cohort prospective study of comparing acute ischemic stroke cases out of therapeutic window with control group who are patients of acute ischemic stroke in therapeutic window. Seventy-nine subjects are recruited consecutively among acute ischemic stroke patients who required inclusion and exclusion criteria. They are in neurological ward at Sardjito Hospital, Yogyakarta. Seven until ten days after onset, the patients will be given cognitive examination with MMSE (Mini Mental State Examination) test to determine cognitive impairment, vascular dementia is diagnosed using DSM-IV (Diagnostic and Statistical manual if Mental Disorders - IV) criteria. Chi Swuare test for categorical data and T test for continuous data are used for bivariat analysis while logistic regression is used for multivariate analysis, It was concluded that there is no significant relation between dementia post acute ischemic stroke and history of hypertension, diabetes mellitus...
