English is an important subject in Senior High School. By learning a new language, learners also learn a new culture. A new culture comes from the target language?s culture or we call it as the second culture. Language and culture cannot be separated because they are interrelated. This theory is confirmed in a study done by Jiang (2000) who says that language and culture cannot appear without the existence of each other. It is getting more interesting when language and culture are discussed through a textbook used by senior high school learners in Indonesia. It is also a common thing when a subject is learned by using textbook. Juan (2010) stated that textbook is an effective instrument for educational learning process and she translated the textbook into Chinese language as „Keben?, the basis of a subject. This study aims at investigating what cultures and which cultural points are found in the senior high school textbook entitled “English in Mind” published by Cambridge University Press. This study was conducted by using five cultural points stated by three experts, the writer filled in the points by using a table of cultural points, and then the writer summed up the points and got the result. These cultural points were to find out whether there are English and Indonesian cultures and five cultural points or not. They are three cultural points from Byram (1993) which are national, national identity, and social identity and social group. Another point comes from Ahmed & Combes (2011) which is stereotype. Met & Byram (1999) had products as the important cultural points. There were twenty eight reading texts used in this study. The results show that English and Indonesian cultures were found in each chapter, and from each cultural point analysis, five English and Indonesian cultural points were found in the textbook. The result in Table also shows that the most English cultural points are found in Products category and Indonesian in National Identity category.
