The stylistic-grammatical constructions in Minangkabaunese are the “extra-grammatical” constructions in which the stylistic-cultural meanings are linguistically encapsulated. This paper particularly discusses the grammatical properties of the stylistic-grammatical constructions in Minangkabaunese and how the subject deletion becomes the main characteristic of the extra-grammatical constructions. Two questions are respectively answered in this paper: (i) what are the grammatical properties of stylistic-grammatical constructions in Minangkabaunese?; and (ii) how does the subject deletion become the main characteristic of the stylistic-grammatical constructions? The data were collected through a descriptive-qualitative research in the form of a field linguistic research and supported by library study. They are in the form of syntactic constructions which are categorized into the stylistic-grammatical constructions in Minangkabaunese. The result of data analysis reveals that: (i) there are five forms of stylistic-grammatical constructions in Minangkabaunese which can be formulated as: (a) NP + bae/kanai + verb; (b) Verb (NP) + verb (NP); (c) NP + NP + verb without affixes; (d) NP + nan + verb (verb); and (e) NP (NP) + ba- verb; and (ii) the grammatical-subject is mostly deleted in such constructions due to the facts that (a) the subject is mostly psychological element in grammatical constructions; (b) the meanings encoded by the constructions are more on cultural advice and stylistic ones; and (c) the constructions are mostly ready-made and culturally fixed.
