Translation procedures of specific terminologies used in Harry Potter and deathly hallows novel and its translation

This descriptive research article aims at classifying linguistic forms of the specific terminologies and procedures used in translating them found in Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows Novel and its Indonesian Translation. The data are all linguistic units found in Harry Potter novel consisting of specific terminogies. The research objects are specific terminogies found in the novel. The data source are Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows Novel and its Indonesian translation. The data were collected using comparative techniques of source language and the target language and content analysis. The data were analyzed by means of translation procedures theory written by Newmark (1988). Based on the analyzed data, the first finding shows that the specific terminologies are in the linguistics form of words and and phrases. Second reseach result indicates that there are four procedures in translation of the specific terminologies. The four procedures are transference, through-translation, shift or transposition, and paraphrase. Both findings can be used to teach translation practice, understanding theory, and evaluating translation result.
