Isi artikel
Two experiments show that modality and suffix-like effects can be produced in the absence of sound when subjects silently articulate (mouth) lists of digits prior to serial recall. Recency recall of mouthed lists was superior to silently read lists; this recency advantage was reduced when subjects mouthed a suffix at the end of a list. No current theory of the modality or suffix effect can easily explain these results.
