The purpose of this study was to test a model of male premarital sexual aggressiveness. An initial structural equation analysis of the proposed model, using 184 single men supported the inclusion of sexual promiscuity and lack of empathy as exogenous variables, and violent attitudes, hostility towards women, anger, and negative relationship experiences as endogenous variables. Fit indexes indicated good correspondence between the model and the data with a notable proportion of the variance in sexual aggression explained by the constructs (R' = .45). A second study, using a sample of 249 single males, was used to cross-validate the findings of the initial investigation. Again, fit indexes indicated correspondence. The findings, especially when considered in conjunction with previous research, demonstrate the complex nature of male premarital sexual aggression by showing the roles that cognition, affect, and dyadic experiences play.
