The paper describes the structure and content of the new British Cultural Studies programme at the University of Warwick. The courses emphasises the cultural diversity of Britain and has special modules on England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The problems of cultural relativism are discussed, and the difficulty of finding a general description of different cultures, now that many of the old classifications, based on broad political contrasts, are falling into disuse.
