Isi artikel
The role of the microcomputer in the language classroom is largely determined by the pedagogical model it evokes, which up to now, unfortunately, has generally been the 'information transmission' model. Under the alternative 'interl1ctive/experiential' model, the microcomputer has the potential for genuinely communicative language education, using international communications networks with facilities for word processing and document transfer. 'Writing on the computer means using the machine as a pencil, eraser, typewriter, printer, scissors, paste, copier, filing cabinet, memo pad, and post office. Thus the computer is a communications channel as well as a writing tool' (Daiut6, 1985). The paper lists some existing networks and illustrates, in three examples, how they can be used for communicative language teaching and literacy'development.
