Isi artikel
This study used the example of offspring abusive drinking associated with family dysfunction and family addictions to examine the specific question "Which children are more influence by family of origin and what are these effects?" In this study, roles in the family and the individual's personality type were found to moderate the effects of Family-of-origin variables or. abusive drinking in 674 young adults. For example, the family role of "hero" acted as a buffer between the family of origin and the young adult's drinking behaviors, whereas the "scapegoat" role was associated with heightened vulnerability. The argument that children are differentially and predictably influenced by a dysfunctional family of origin was supported.
