After the International Conference on Population and Development in Cairo 1994, reproductive health becomes a global issue, so that many international conferences and meetings are held. However only few attentions were given to the role of Hospitals in reproductive health services. As a center for referral health services, hospitals have four functions : 1) overcome referral case and problems , 2) medical supervision , 3) training and education , 4) research and development. Taking into consideration that in indonesia hospital MCH and Family Planning have beeen developed, it was advised that in delivering essential reproductive health services the role of hospitals may start from this available services with the emphasize to provide comprehensive ontegrated and adjusted services to the clients need and doing supervision to puskesmas. this manuscript concludes that the success of Hospitals in implementing reproductive health services depends on the mindset of the director and availability of team to help the directors to implement it. It was also advised to create health promoting hospitals networking following other countries experiences by creating centers for reproductive health service which begins with conducting training to obstetric doctors and their nurses on modern counseling, recent development of family planning, post abortion care, screening of cancer among women and STI case management.
