This paper investigates the use of a vernacular language in the maengket dance which reflects the way of thinking of the Tonsea people of Minahasa. The research was conducted to identify the kind of language used and to explain the cultural significance related to the patterns of thought of the people. The paper also classifies their ways of life as reflected in the dance.
