Isi artikelIn order to obtain creative use of the language and a deeper semantic sense, poets often deviate in their use of grammar, thus bringing about their own characteristics of language use which obviously are in contrast with the non-literary use of the language. The grammatical deviations are not random but rule-governed: there are six grammatical deviation patterns in writing Indonesian poetry, i.e. (1) ellipsis, (2) variation of word order, (3) variation of synonimy/forms, (4) analogy, (5) incorporation, and (6) transposition. These deviations are hopefully to be used as guidelines by younger poets in expressing their intended meaning beyond the actual words used.
