This paper deals with lexical fields in terms of Trier's theory. Although Trier's field theory is considered as a breakthrough in the study of lexical semantics, it raises many objections among the newer generation of linguists. This paper also deals with componential analysis which is an important method to be used to describe the internal and external structures of lexical items that belong to a lexical field.
