This research examines the role of interactive processes in predicting physical aggression while dating using a national representative sample of young, never-married. persons who date. The interactive processes of nonconsensus, and cognitive and expressive processes are examined. The findings show that dating aggression has less to do with individuals' background characteristics and more to do with interaction patterns withif1 relationships
