One of the components that can determine the success or failure of the teaching-learning process in schools is the accuracy of the test materials implemented in the program. The other components that definitely influence the success of the teaching-learning process are learning objectives, teaching materials, and the teaching-learning strategies. These components are interrelated according to the theory of instructional design. The theory of instructional design states that as long as the learning objective(s) or the learning need(s) are already formulated the other components can be easily designed based on the objectives. The paper briefly discusses (1) the components of the systematic design of instruction, (2) the 1994 English Curriculum for Senior High School in Indonesia, (3) the development of English test materials for formative and summative evaluations, (4) the possibility of development of the test materials, and (5) the conclusion and suggestion. |
