Isi artikelMembrane fluidity is important for the membrane function as a trasnport layer. In the low temperature and th emembrane fludiity become low. Microorganisms, which live at low temperature, have several mechanisms to change their membrane compostiion to keep their membrane fluidity. The most mechanism that have been studied to regulation of unsaturated fatty acid synthesis using des gene. The second mechanism is regulation the membrane fluidity using acyltransferase enzyme. The othe rmechanism that still poor studied is regulation of membrane fluidity by regulate the synthesis of branch chain in fatty acids. Study about membrane fluidity regulation become more important because microorganism's unsaturated fatty acids could be useful for chemical or pharmaceutical industry.
