In the last few decades there has been a growing recognition and appreciation of graduate professional training in management. Education's answer to this has been the "M.B.A". Simply stated, they are in business of making managers. MBA is a gold card to a better job. I believe that the factors motivating students to get an MBA degree are : 1. Management Profession 2. Money 3. Independence 4. Security 5. Prestige 6. Power 7. Stepping stone to another career I had been conducting survey by simple random sampling to MBA students of Graduate School of Business, New Hampshire College, North Campus, Manchester, N.H., U.S.A. in 1987. I distributed about 50 questionnaires (see appendix) and I got 39 respondents. Since time constraints and since it is already more than minimum requirement, I did not trace what happened to the rest. My null hypothesis is that those seven factors do not motivate students to get an MBA. I analyzed the available information by Chi-Square method with 95% confidence level. I found out that the null hypothesis is rejected, that means that those factors do motivate the students to get an MBA. |
