Interactions among communities, tribes, and nations lead to language contacts. This paper elaborates an Indonesian variety spoken in Lampung as a result of the language contact to the local language Lampungese or Bahasa Lampung. It discusses how people in Lampung, especially those with Lampungese linguistic background, communicate in Bahasa Indonesia with certain linguistic characteristics. Abundant examples for this can be found easily in spoken Indonesian in Lampung. Such consideration has underlined the effort of conducting this research on the language used by the people in real situation. The objective was to describe the style of Indonesian spoken in the Province. The step taken was to gather necessary data in form of talks. Interviews were also conducted in order to have more information on the language variety. The data collected were then classified into smaller groups according to the characteristics they showed. Having the data classified, a comprehensive analysis was then done in order to be able to answer the research question. The findings cover various aspects or areas of the language. The first type found is related to pronunciation and suprasegmental features. The second finding is related to vocabulary items which are not used in other provinces or regions. The third one contributes to the variation of connotation and semantic issues. Those characteristics encrich the Indonesian varieties in Indonesia.
