Isi artikelAccording to Roger Scruton, conservatism is the ultimate solution to the global environmental crisis and this is the central statement in his book Green Philosophy: How to Think Seriously about the Planet (2012). Scruton argues that conservatism is the answer to all our moral and political problems, or at least the best way to address them. In Green Philosophy Scruton takes up the topic of environmentalism, which is commonly linked to left wing politics (progressives, liberals and ‘greens’). In his book Scruton develops conservatism into green conservatism, which is different from other right wing political blends as libertarianism. Is green conservatism a logical expansion of conservatism? Is green conservatism a good way to address environmental problems? If environmentalism is a choir of voices, what can be learned from green conservatism or is it an all-or-nothing approach?
