In daily conversation, anyone must employ subconscious communication strategies. This study is aimed to construct more communication strategies and to rely for more conscious strategies on daily communication by effective reading: read, analyze and evaluate, understand and respond (Harrison & Salinger: 2002,88). This research is done towards third-semester college students of Ibn Kaldun University who are classified in beginner level. They will be effectively drilled by reading and practising some sets of daily communication (read), discussing content analysis (analyze and evaluate) and doing oral practice (understand and respond). The sets of daily communication will contain oral communication strategy inventory, developed by Nakatani (2005), in Metcalfe &Noomura (2013). Yet, it is expected that after effective reading, conscious awareness of communication strategy usage in dialogue building will be slowly built into them. This experimental research is done and analyzed qualitatively. Technique of data collection is under pre and post class observation in order to check their original communication strategies. Then, by post observation transcript, some student’s communication strategies implied in dialogue presentation are identified and checked for trustworthiness. Questionnaire released in order to analyze students' self perspective of their conscious communication strategies after effective reading will be compared to their real communication strategies. The result shows effective reading material inserted with communication strategy can build awareness and make intra-changing in employing communication strategy.
