The popularity of CALL has enabled language teacher to explore various tools to enrich their teaching repertoir. One of the tools which have been stated to have many benefits is the integration of subtitling into language learning. Despites having multiple benefits, such as increased in motivation, skills, language awareness, etc. (Lertola and McLoughlin: 2014), to the writer’s knowledge, it has not been adapted in language teaching in Indonesia. To fill this gap in practice, the paper aims specifically at the influence of subtitling practice on learner’s skills, specifically, on their writing skills. The skills which will be investigated are the ones often related to the activities in creating a subtitle. The experiment will be done at university X in Jakarta, Indonesia to a class of learners of an English Department. Data on the performance will be collected through a series of progressive assesment, pre test, and post test. The expected implication of this research is the empirical evidence on the influence of subtitling practice on learners’ specific writing skills. Another implication expected of this experiment is on the best practice on implementing the subtitling activities.
