This study reveals problems that the interpreters face as well as outlines some practices in improving interpreting skills in the process of achieving the goal. This study highlights the practices from personal experiences of five professional interpreters (governmental and non-governmental interpreters). Data was collected through interviews and observation. Data from the audiotapes was transcribed to create texts for qualitative analysis. The findings on how the professional interpreters improve their interpreting practice skills can be applied for translation and interpretation students’ learning strategies at Politeknik Negeri Jakarta.
