Isi artikelReduplication is a repetition of words or part of words in a language. Reduplication is very productive in the use of Balinese since most words can be repeated. Translating the Balinese reduplication in literary works from source language (SL) to target language (TL) involves the ability and competence of the translator in comprehending the message expressed by the reduplication itself before converting it into the TL. This paper is aimed at discussing the method applied in translating the Balinese reduplication into English, the theories adopted in this research are the theories proposed by Larson (1998:3) and translation methods proposed by Newmark( Newmark 1988: 45-48 ). This research applies descriptive-qualitative approach, the data were taken from the compilation of the Balinese short stories entitled Katemu ring Tampaksiring through observation and note-taking techniques. The result shows that the translator applied literal, faithful, semantic and communicative methods.
