Since its beginning, translation has faced various adversaries from many fronts. From Cicero to contemporary translators, we are aware that doing a translation is not a riskless undertaking. Some considerations, such as designing the audience, making a translation decision, omitting a certain content potentially harmful to the target culture, need to be done first when one has to translate. The translation brief, a term coined by Nord, must be thoroughly scrutinized and duly executed. When the translators fail to do so, a terrible consequence can be predicted to happen. The paper tries to explore some unexpected outcomes when the published translations create havoc in a target culture. It analyzes the possible causes and seeks for an appropriate approach to avoid such commotion to happen. Some case studies are presented in order to shed a light on the danger lurking when a translator disregards his/her target text readers.
