Isi artikel
There has been a substantial development in studying translation process for more than two decades, and one of the tools utilized to investigate this process is using the technology of logging and recording. Qualitative and quantitative methods are approaches used to collect information and analyze the data gathered from logging and recording tools, but the writer approaches the process from descriptive qualitative viewpoints – it is based on the writer’s hands-on experience. The aim is to bring about perspective together with reviews of tools or instruments for translation research and to contribute another outlook on how to make use of this tools – the pros and cons. Languages in operation in the translation process are English language and Indonesian language derived from two separate experiments – freelance and in-house translators, also four-year English language and education program students. The process of logging and recording programs together with the results gathered using these tools will be the core discussion in this writing, and the products are not the subject of this report. Translog is the logging program discussed in this writing.
