The concepts of TQM have become relevant for education driven by the competitive pressures, and aspirations of various stakeholders. A lot of emphasis is being put on the quality and standard of technical education, especially in the case of higher technical institutes (HTI). Concepts of TQM such as customer focus, fact-based decision making, continuous improvement, team work and process orientation are relevant. HTI poses various challenges such as demanding students. It is important to realize that participants of the course start appreciating these concepts. The author was engaged in teaching a course on TQM in IIT Delhi. Experiential and project work based pedagogy has been developed to make the course interesting.
