Isi artikel
Library service quality is one of the major parameters of quality higher education. In spite of its importance, students’ perceptions about libraries seem to have been largely ignored by library management in Bangladesh and the degree of ignorance may vary from public to private universities. This paper focuses on this issue and aims to see whether there is a variation in the students’ perception about library service quality between public and private universities or not as well as their satisfaction about library services. This paper employs LIBQUAL model (with four dimensions, such as; Access to information; Affect of service; Library as a place; Personal Control) as a basis to conduct the study. Data has been collected from the 300 students of both public and private universities of Bangladesh. Result shows that students’ perception about library service quality significantly varies across the public and private universities and four dimensions of the LIBQUAL model are significantly correlated with student satisfaction. This paper also provides some recommendations to the library management to improve the level of service quality of their libraries
