Isi artikelResource allocation has been out of alignment in Indian academic institutions, partly because of non-scientific way in which the budget is planned and allocations are made for various activities. Due to a declining priority of education in the public policy paradigm in India, there has been an exponential growth in the private expenditure on education also. The various resources of income of the institutes are government funds, tuition fees from the students, research grants from funding and research councils and other sources like endowment and gift. The academic institutes need to manage the resource allocation and performance measurement as in a market oriented system, funding is directly proportional to an institute’s performance
