Isi artikelAlthough innovation is often associated with technological improvement, it is applicable to all key organizational processes that would benefit from change. This paper presents insights of how innovation has contributed to Marico’s uncommon journey of growth over a span of two decades from a segment of a traditional family-owned commodity business to one of India’s fastest growing FMCG multinational corporations. The first section contains examples of how innovations have helped to define, create and distribute value to all the company’s stakeholders: consumers, business associates, employees, shareholder’s and the society in which the business operates. Next, three types of product innovations are described: innovations that have enabled the organization to create new categories of products; packaging innovations; and consumercentered innovations using product in-sighting. The final section covers the application of innovative techniques to key organizational processes such as sales, manufacturing and HR processes.
