With an objective to strengthen ABP process, by increasing the employee involvement and including an in-house external perspective, the process of MD Diagnosis was designed. The MD diagnosis spans over entire year to check complete PDCA cycle. The process has helped us in Strengthening ABP process, drilldown of the ABP till frontline managers, robust review process of accomplishment of plan, Employee involvement, cross functional learning, opportunity for Sr. Management to interact directly with the frontline employees etc.. During diagnosis 62 assessors including MD, Vice Presidents, Chiefs of various departments have spent more than 1000 hours for assessment. This unique approach of cross functional learning will help us in long run in standardizing our management practices and leveraging the expertise of assessors in other areas. This process has also triggered the integration of various TQM approaches & improvement initiatives. This has become a key enabler for "TQM Institutionalization" in Tata Steel.
