Weight tolerance in rebars is an important product attributes for our customers. Various actions were taken for improvement in weight tolerance but the results were not always satisfactory as the adjustment process was not addressing the root cause. Sometimes the adjustments used to have desired effects on product attributes and at times it did not had any visible impact. Experiments were conducted and validated to establish the correlation between adjustment of different parameters at intermediate stages of the process and the product attributes. The outputs of the experiments were used to select the significant process parameters affecting the product and monitoring of these parameters were started through control charts. Standard operating procedures were developed and properly documented for process adjustments to counter the deviations in these process parameters. With these adjustments output parameters are kept under control.
