The National Science Medical Center of the Ministry for Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan - NSMC Joint Stock Corporation (hereinafter referred to as NSMC) is leading medical institution of Kazakhstan. The quality management system was implemented and certified successfully in compliance with requirements of ISO 9001:2000. The decision on implementation of EFQM Excellence Model 2010 was made in 2008 with the aim to further improve quality of medical services provided by the NSMC as well as to increase satisfaction of all the stakeholders. The implementation of this project has been undertaken through joint endeavors of International Association of Quality Managers and Auditors (IAQMA, Kazakhstan) and European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM, Belgium). The NSMC became the pioneer organization in Kazakhstan in terms of implementation of EFQM Excellence Model that was designed with the aim to achieve an integrated approach to sustainable development based on application of self-assessment tools used to evaluate results of organizational current activity. The implementation of EFQM Excellence Model 2010 has been carried out with consideration of EFQM Fundamental Concepts of Excellence.
