This paper was intent to create a helping tool for nurse scheduling to decrease time consumption of the process and also increase job satisfaction while maintaining the same effectiveness and efficiency of the schedule. We have collected a relevant data from Thammasat Hospital such as working constraints and example of real schedule by interview a nurse scheduler. With the information acquired from the hospital, we have created a mathematical model for a scheduling process and developed an Opensolver using with MS Excel that capable of scheduling. The Excel is able to meet all the requirements and constraints of the hospital. This Opensolver can schedules up to 60 nurses with the maximum of 31 days. The computation time is approximately 10-20 minutes depending on the number of nurse. It also increases a job satisfaction to abate nurse insufficiency problem. The outcome of this project results in more equal share of shift and day-off and slightly increase the number of preferences that are met. The model also capable of handle a changing demand and working constraints. We are able to increase a consecutive day-off of each nurse while maintaining the same amount of total shift and meet more nurses’ preference shift.
